1. Golden Bridge (Cau Vang) and Ba Na Hills

Why you should go? The Golden Bridge offers an experience unlike anything else in the world. Suspended 1,400 meters above sea level, the walk across this bridge is absolutely breathtaking. The massive stone hands create an illusion that you’re being held up in the clouds, making it perfect for incredible photos. The surrounding Ba Na Hills provide spectacular views of the countryside, and the cool mountain air offers a refreshing escape from Da Nang’s heat. Visit early morning to catch the mysterious fog rolling through the mountains and avoid the crowds.
We went to Ba Na Hills in the afternoon, around 1 PM. The journey from Da Nang took about half an hour. After buying tickets, we got into a cable car cabin and immersed ourselves in an amazing world that somewhat resembled the world of Avatar. Incredibly beautiful views opened up before us. The ascent took about 15 minutes.
When we reached the top, we initially planned to visit the main attraction - the bridge. However, due to the huge crowds, we decided to return there in the evening instead. When we took photos on the bridge in the evening, the pictures turned out incredible, but it was very cold on the bridge by then - I recommend bringing something warm to wear.
For families, the Fantasy Park indoor entertainment center provides hours of fun, while history buffs can explore the French colonial architecture and beautiful temples.

12. Secret Beach – Tien Sa Beach
We called this beach “secret” because the first couple of times we visited, it was completely empty. At some point in Da Nang, we got tired of the constant waves and the ever-whistling Vietnamese lifeguards (who, by the way, can barely swim themselves) at the main beaches.
We managed to find this beach where the sea is calm and the water is even a bit clearer. It’s quite a picturesque spot where you can relax peacefully, swim, and enjoy beautiful views.
From the center of My An district, it cost around $7-8 and took approximately 15-20 minutes to get there.

13. Food in Da Nang, Vietnam
Point 13 would be about the food. In Da Nang, you can find cuisines from all over the world at very attractive prices – Greek, Italian, Japanese, and others – very often such cafes are owned by foreigners who have lived in Vietnam for a long time in partnership with locals, since foreigners cannot fully own a business.
Local food in cafes is particularly affordable. And it’s delicious!
For example, a portion of spring rolls plus a large bowl of Pho Bo (on the left pic) cost about 5 dollars. This was enough to fill up two people. As for the sushi and rolls box (on the right pic) – that cost around 10 dollars.
While I didn’t want to single out any specific restaurant, I must mention one place where we had excellent seafood (crabs, shrimp, vongole, etc.) served with delicious fried rice. The food was both fantastic and affordable.
Just note that on weekends there can be a queue (mostly Korean tourists), so either make a reservation or be prepared to wait about 30 minutes.
Â
Disadvantages of visiting Da Nang
- Frequent rain and storms during monsoon season (September-December)
- Limited English proficiency among locals (The locals are quite difficult to understand since they usually speak very quietly due to shyness – like little birds. It’s very cute but completely incomprehensible.)
- Less developed tourism infrastructure compared to other Vietnamese destinations
- Rats and Cockroaches. During 2 months in Vietnam, we saw these guys many times
- Air pollution and motorbikes
There’s an overwhelming number of motorbikes and a lack of traffic rules. Locals drive however they want, making crossing the road often challenging. Additionally, these motorbikes are parked not just in designated spots but also on sidewalks, frequently forcing pedestrians to walk along the roads.
Like everywhere else, Vietnam has its pros and cons. However, in our opinion, it’s definitely worth visiting to see it for yourself.
